I’ve been a bad blogger this week. Partly due to RL being a bit busy and partly due to… WoW being too much fun, Single Abstract Noun has been too much fun to be more specific.
On Saturday Tamarind, with the help of the gnome Maximilian (whose main and blog escapes me, sorry!) hosted a guild event where we all created level 1 gnomes and marched to Ironforge to raise gnome awareness and demand gnomes get the rights they deserve! After handing our demands over to Magni, having to stuff them down his trousers since he refused to take it, we continued to the nearest tavern for something to drink. Apparently a few pints is a lot for a two foot gnome and it may have caused some nudity and the sort of indecent dancing gnomes are so famous for on the tavern’s bar and tables.
The day after it was my turn. A fair few people were new to the concept of RP and a bit reluctant to try to chat up some random blood elf in Silvermoon, and I don’t blame them, it’s not good to tell what that may lead to. So a couple of weeks before I decided to host an event for the guild, the Single Abstract Noun Fishing Extravaganza! We met up at Fray Island just off the coast of Ratchet believing that it would suit as a nice location for our event to go on undisturbed, alas some nelfer and gnome showed up and ran around spamming AoE spells for the first twenty minutes or so before buggering off out of boredom. Apart from the visit from our Alliance “friends” and I almost screwing up something as simple as counting fish, I’m fairly happy with how it went.
Having gone from suffering burn out to plain old boredom when it comes to raiding ICC, I’ve been playing a number of alts instead, mainly my shaman. With my level 80 mains in my raiding guild, SAN is the perfect place for my alts. Pretty much everyone is low level and it’s not too hard to get full guild 5-mans going either on my shaman, priest or druid (yes, I made another one!).
The shammy is the one I’ve invested the most time in by far. I have a theory that when it comes to certain things like music, games, books or movies the ones that it takes the most time getting into are those who you end up enjoying the most. While I’m sure Wulfy will disagree, I found going from 1 to 30 an absolute pain and 30 to 60 although less painful, not terribly exciting. At 60 however, things started to change. I decided to specc back to enhancement from elemental since I’ve really never played a melee DPS class actively, apart from my rogue who’s been gathering dust for years. To my surprise I’m really enjoying it. Spirit Wolves might just be the most awesome spell in the game, combine Awesome Wolves™ with fire elemental totem and blood lust… Hubbah hubbah. I’m still getting used to managing totems, especially when there are other shamalamas in the group and I’ve developed a hatred for big bosses with small hit boxes, it feels like I’m standing with my head up their arse in order to DPS, apart from that I’m really, really liking this shamalama lark so far.
Mini-Erc has been keeping Tamadin and Larísa alive in low level dungeons, HoT-ing people up and seeing how long he can /dance for before having to heal again, he must have been inspired by Big Erc’s days in Karazhan. Schisma has been hanging out with Jakk aka. “Hellfire Boi”, Jaedia and Issy in BRD and Maraudon making fun of our own inability to name and pronounce things. Jaedia will most likely forever be known as “Jay-Dee” and Landslide has had a name change and is now known as Landscape.
All in all it’s been one of the most fun weeks I’ve had in WoW in a good while. With the pressure and monotony of ICC progress raiding gone and a ton of fellow altaholics to level with I’m finding the game more enjoyable than I have in quite some time. …and I’ve probably jinxed it now.
